In 2021, we held the first mini retreat for a group of about 25 altar servers at a rural parish in Oklahoma. As the leaders of the altar server ministry, we witnessed the fruits of this retreat. Every single server went to confession during the event! Since altar servers typically arrive early for Mass to prepare, they often miss the normal confession times. The retreat also provided an opportunity for all the servers to come together for fellowship, food, and reflection, helping them to build their own community.
In 2023, all altar servers in the Diocese of Tulsa & Eastern Oklahoma were invited to the 1st Annual Altar Server Spiritual Retreat at St. Thérèse Catholic Church in Collinsville, OK. This Catholic event was well attended, drawing nearly 150 faithful Catholics who serve at the Altar of God.
In 2024, we launched the website on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, with the help of our Blessed Mother. We could not have crafted this site in one evening without some divine assistance! Again, in the fall, we hosted the 2nd Annual Altar Server Spiritual Retreat at the Church of St. Benedict in Broken Arrow, OK, as part of our Mission of Mary's Army.
In 2025, the 3rd Annual Altar Server Spiritual Retreat was once again held at the Church of St. Benedict in Broken Arrow, attracting the faithful from across Oklahoma and Texas.
Retreats focus on feeding the spiritual souls of those attending. Generally, multiple speakers present on various Catholic topics, with at least one emphasizing the importance of serving at the Altar of God. Relics are available for veneration, and Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament is always an integral part of the retreat experience, along with the opportunity to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. These altar server retreats include lunch and snacks and are offered free to attendees through the generous donations to the Mission of Mary's Army resource tables at events and parishes throughout the year.
Previous speakers have included bishops, priests, seminarians, and well-known Catholic speakers such as Gabriel Castillo.
Recognizing the significance of connecting with priests and Religious Brothers and Sisters, Mission of Mary's Army actively reaches out to various Roman Catholic Religious communities to ensure that vocation materials from many Religious Orders are available at the altar server retreats. Several members of different Religious Orders are also present at these retreats for attendees to engage in meaningful conversations.
The Mission of Mary's Army, with its deep devotion to Our Lady, also organizes altar server retreats and Marian retreats aimed at bringing others closer to Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. All retreats are family-friendly, fostering a greater understanding of our Catholic faith within domestic churches. Throughout the year, smaller Catholic events may also take place, such as vocations events and discussions on how to live as a Catholic in a secular world. Additionally, the Mission of Mary's Army can be found as a vendor at various large Catholic conferences.

Julia's info here about altar server retreats and upcoming Catholic events, including insights into the Mission of Mary's Army.
Kristy grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. She knew about God, prayed, but belonged to no specific religion. It was not until she met her now husband in high school that she learned about the Catholic Church and began attending one. In college, she started participating in RCIA at the Catholic church on campus and became Catholic in 1998. Since then, Kristy has been actively involved in various Catholic events, including altar server retreats, which have enriched her understanding of the faith. Her knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith continue to grow and develop, especially through the classes she has taken at Notre Dame and her participation in the Mission of Mary's Army.
